13-Year-Old Vaibhav Suryavanshi Shines as India Storms into U19 Asia Cup Final

India’s U19 cricket team, powered by a spectacular performance from 13-year-old Vaibhav Suryavanshi, secured a dominant seven-wicket victory over Sri Lanka to reach the final of the U19 Asia Cup. The young opener’s explosive innings of 67 off just 36 balls set the tone for a comfortable chase, with India reaching the target of 174 in just 23.2 overs.

Bowlers Lay the Foundation

India’s bowlers were instrumental in setting up the win, restricting Sri Lanka to a modest 173 in 46.2 overs. Leading the attack, Chetan Sharma claimed three crucial wickets for 34 runs, while Kiran Chormale and Ayush Mhatre contributed with two wickets each. Sri Lanka’s resistance came from Lakvin Abeysinghe (69) and Sharujan Shanmuganathan (42), but the disciplined Indian bowling ensured they couldn’t capitalize.

Vaibhav Suryavanshi’s Heroics

Suryavanshi, who recently became the youngest player to secure an IPL contract after being signed by Rajasthan Royals for ₹1.1 crore, showcased why he is considered a cricketing prodigy. Opening the innings, he reached his half-century in just 24 balls, hitting six boundaries and five towering sixes. His fearless approach saw India smash 31 runs in the second over, putting the chase firmly in control.

Contributions from Ayush Mhatre (34), Mohammed Amaan (26*), and KP Karthikeya (11*) ensured India’s victory with 170 balls to spare, securing their spot in the final against defending champions Bangladesh.

Suryavanshi’s Asia Cup journey started quietly, with scores of 1 and 23 against Pakistan and Japan. However, he found his form with an unbeaten 76 in the final group match against the UAE, a momentum he carried into the semi-final. His fearless batting has made him a key player for India as they aim for their ninth Asia Cup title.

India will now face a formidable Bangladesh team in the final, hoping to continue their dominant form and clinch the championship.
