Gautam Adani Donates Rs 10,000 Crore to Social Causes at Son’s Wedding
Staying true to his earlier remarks about simplicity and tradition, Gautam Adani, Chairman of the Adani Group, turned his son Jeet Adani’s wedding into a meaningful occasion by announcing a Rs 10,000 crore donation toward social causes. The wedding, held at the Belvedere Club in Ahmedabad’s Adani Shantigram township, was attended by close friends and family, with notable absences of politicians, business leaders, and celebrities.

This significant donation underscores Adani’s belief in the social philosophy of “seva sadhana hai, seva prarthna hai aur seva parmatma hai”, or “service is devotion, service is prayer, and service is divine.”

Focus Areas of the Donation
Adani’s philanthropic commitment will fund healthcare, education, and skill development initiatives, aimed at uplifting underprivileged sections of society. The donation will support:
- A network of affordable, world-class hospitals and medical colleges to enhance healthcare access.
- K-12 schools offering top-tier education at affordable costs.
- Advanced global skill academies designed to ensure employability for students.
These initiatives aim to bridge critical gaps in access to education, healthcare, and vocational training.
Wedding Celebrations with a Community Focus
Jeet Adani, an alumnus of the University of Pennsylvania, married Diva, the daughter of diamond trader Jaimin Shah, in a traditional Gujarati ceremony. While the wedding adhered to religious rituals and simplicity, it was notable for its unique emphasis on social responsibility. Adani addressed his daughter-in-law as “daughter Diva” in a heartfelt post shared on X (formerly Twitter).
Two days before the wedding, Adani announced the ‘Mangal Seva’ initiative, aimed at supporting newly married women with disabilities. Under this program, 500 women with disabilities will receive financial assistance of Rs 10 lakh each year. To launch the initiative, Jeet Adani personally met 21 newly married divyang women and their husbands.
A Philosophy Rooted in Service
At the Maha Kumbh Mela in January, Gautam Adani had assured reporters that his son’s wedding would be a simple and traditional affair, stating, “We are like common people. Jeet came here to take Ma Ganga’s blessings.” True to his words, the family chose to emphasize community welfare over grandeur.
Adani’s decision to celebrate his son’s wedding by giving back to society exemplifies his philosophy of “Seva Over Self.” His gesture redefines the idea of personal milestones by prioritizing community impact over ostentatious displays of wealth.
