Allu Arjun Arrested Over Stampede at Hyderabad Theatre
Hyderabad police have arrested Telugu superstar Allu Arjun in connection with a stampede that occurred during a screening of his blockbuster movie Pushpa 2: The Rule. The incident, which took place at Sandhya Theatre on December 4, resulted in the tragic death of a 35-year-old woman, Revathi, and left her nine-year-old son injured.

Videos circulating on social media captured the actor being escorted by police. One video showed him entering an elevator under escort, while another showed him boarding a police car outside his residence in Jubilee Hills. The actor was taken to Chikkadpally Police Station for questioning. His father, filmmaker Allu Arvind, and other family members were present during his arrest.

Charges Filed Against the Actor and Others
Allu Arjun has been charged with culpable homicide not amounting to murder and voluntarily causing hurt under Indian law. The Hyderabad Police have also filed cases against members of Arjun’s security team and the management of Sandhya Theatre, citing their failure to manage the situation responsibly.
Hyderabad Police Commissioner CV Anand stated that there was no prior notification from either the theatre management or Arjun’s team regarding his unscheduled visit. The absence of preparation led to a chaotic scene as fans rushed to catch a glimpse of the actor and music director Devi Sri Prasad during the screening.
A Tragic Outcome
The stampede broke out as fans crowded the theatre, eager to see the actor and composer during the screening. Revathi and her son were caught in the rush, leading to her untimely death. Arjun expressed his heartbreak over the tragedy, stating he was deeply saddened and assured the grieving family he would meet them personally.
Legal Challenges
The 41-year-old actor has approached the Telangana High Court to quash the charges against him. Following his arrest, Arjun filed a plea requesting a stay on his detention until Monday. He has also criticized the manner of his arrest, alleging that police barged into his bedroom during the detention process.
