Anmol Bishnoi Detained in the US

Anmol Bishnoi, the younger brother of incarcerated gangster Lawrence Bishnoi, has been detained in the United States, according to sources. The arrest comes amid ongoing efforts by Indian authorities to bring him back to the country for trial in several high-profile criminal cases. Anmol Bishnoi Detained was trending across social media.

Anmol, 50, has been on the radar of multiple law enforcement agencies and is accused of involvement in numerous criminal activities, including the 2022 murder of Punjabi singer Sidhu Moosewala. He has also been linked to the recent killing of former Maharashtra minister Baba Siddique and a shooting incident outside Bollywood actor Salman Khan’s residence earlier this year.

Interpol Notice and Extradition Efforts

Earlier this month, Mumbai Police’s Crime Branch began the formal process to extradite Anmol Bishnoi from the US. A special court in Maharashtra issued a non-bailable warrant for his arrest, and Interpol followed with a Red Corner Notice against him.

Anmol, originally from Fazilka in Punjab, had reportedly fled India on a fake passport. While he was initially believed to be hiding in Canada, his location in the United States marks a significant development in the efforts to apprehend him.

The National Investigation Agency (NIA), India’s premier anti-terror unit, had also added him to its most-wanted list, offering a ₹10 lakh reward for information leading to his capture.

Bishnoi Gang’s Criminal Network

The Bishnoi brothers, Lawrence and Anmol, are alleged to run an expansive criminal network, despite Lawrence being in prison. Their gang gained notoriety following the assassination of Sidhu Moosewala in May 2022. Moosewala’s murder shocked the nation and spotlighted the gang’s far-reaching influence.

In April this year, the gang made headlines again after a shooting outside actor Salman Khan’s Mumbai home. This incident was tied to threats over the 1998 blackbuck poaching case involving Khan, with the Bishnoi gang citing cultural and religious sentiments as motivation.

The gang is also under investigation for the murder of former Maharashtra minister Baba Siddique, a close associate of Salman Khan, further entrenching their link to high-profile cases.

Terrorism and Organized Crime Allegations

Beyond these cases, the Bishnoi brothers have been accused of conspiring to fundraise and recruit youth for alleged terrorist activities in Delhi and other regions. These accusations have added a counter-terror dimension to their criminal record, drawing the attention of multiple Indian security agencies.

The NIA is pursuing two separate cases against Anmol, bolstering the legal framework for his extradition and trial in India.

The Path to Extradition

Indian authorities have ramped up efforts to bring Anmol Bishnoi back to the country. His arrest in the US is seen as a critical step toward ensuring accountability for his alleged crimes. With Interpol’s Red Corner Notice and a strong case presented by Indian agencies, the extradition process is expected to move swiftly.

The Ministry of External Affairs, in collaboration with US authorities, will likely expedite diplomatic and legal procedures to ensure his return.

Implications for Indian Law Enforcement

Anmol Bishnoi’s arrest could have far-reaching implications for dismantling the Bishnoi gang’s operations. Experts believe this could weaken the gang’s network and provide crucial insights into their funding and recruitment strategies.

As Indian authorities await his extradition, the case underscores the challenges of tackling transnational organized crime. Anmol Bishnoi’s capture represents progress, but the road ahead involves navigating complex legal and diplomatic processes to bring him to justice in India.
