Iconic Apple Store Set to Open in Bandra-Kurla Complex, Mumbai
Apple Inc. has announced its intention to open its first-ever store in India, located in the Bandra-Kurla Complex of Mumbai. The company stated on its website, “Hello Mumbai. We are getting ready to welcome you aboard our first store in India. And raring to see where your creativity takes you at Apple BKC.” The store will be situated at Jio World Drive in the Bandra-Kurla Complex. To commemorate the launch, Apple is offering users the opportunity to download a Mumbai-themed wallpaper and enjoy a curated playlist featuring the city’s music.
This new store aligns with Apple’s strategy to expand its presence in India and establish a vital production base in the country. In 2021, Nikkei Asia reported that Apple requested its suppliers to shift some AirPods and Beats headphone production to India for the first time. The move aims to diversify production away from China gradually, mitigating supply chain risks arising from the country’s stringent zero-Covid policy and ongoing tensions with the United States.
