C P Radhakrishnan Sworn in as 11th Governor of Jharkhand
On Saturday, Feb 18, veteran BJP leader C P Radhakrishnan from Tamil Nadu was sworn in as the 11th Governor of Jharkhand at the Raj Bhavan. The ceremony was attended by Chief Minister Hemant Soren, Union Minister of State for Information and Broadcasting L Murugan, Telangana Governor Tamilisai Soundararajan, state ministers, MPs, and MLAs.
Radhakrishnan, who served as a two-time Lok Sabha member from Coimbatore, succeeded Ramesh Bais, who was Governor of Jharkhand since July 2021. Acting Chief Justice of Jharkhand High Court Aparesh Kumar Singh administered the oath of office and secrecy to Radhakrishnan.
In his statement to reporters, Radhakrishnan expressed his happiness and commitment to the all-round development of the state. He stressed that development was the only answer to the eradication of poverty. The Chief Minister congratulated the new Governor, stating that he had full faith in his guidance for the overall development of the state.
Following the oath, Radhakrishnan visited Ulihatu village, which is the birthplace of tribal icon Birsa Munda, in Khunti district, approximately 60 km from Ranchi, the state capital. Radhakrishnan expressed his admiration for icons like Birsa Munda, whose unparalleled contributions had helped India become a free nation.
Radhakrishnan further pledged his commitment to the upliftment of Jharkhand and its people. He noted that India had become the world’s fifth-largest economy and that he aimed to ensure the state’s progress in various fields.
Later in the day, Radhakrishnan paid his respects to Lord Shiva at Panch Mandir in Ranchi on the occasion of Maha Shivaratri.
