Five Terrorists Killed in Kulgam Encounter

Security Forces Eliminate Five Terrorists in Kulgam Operation: In a significant anti-terror operation, five terrorists were neutralized by security forces in the Kadder area of South Kashmir’s Kulgam district on Thursday. The encounter began after a search operation was launched based on credible intelligence inputs about the presence of terrorists in the region.

The operation was initiated jointly by the Indian Army and the Jammu and Kashmir Police. According to the Army’s Chinar Corps, suspicious activities were observed during the search, prompting the troops to challenge the suspects. In response, the terrorists opened indiscriminate fire, leading to a fierce gunfight. Security forces retaliated effectively, eliminating all five terrorists.

The Indian Army shared details of the operation on social media, stating that vigilant troops acted swiftly to counter the threat. The operation is being hailed as a success in maintaining security in the region.

Recent Surge in Terror Activities

This encounter follows a series of recent operations aimed at curbing terrorist activities in Jammu and Kashmir. Earlier this month, a terrorist involved in multiple civilian killings, including attacks in Gagangir, Ganderbal, was neutralized in Srinagar district.

Last month, security forces successfully conducted operations in Anantnag and Khanyar, eliminating three terrorists. However, October witnessed one of the deadliest attacks in recent times, where seven individuals, including a local doctor and two workers from Bihar, were killed at a tunnel construction site in Ganderbal district.

Political Reactions and Call for Stability

Amid the rising number of encounters and terror incidents, National Conference chief Farooq Abdullah has expressed concerns. He suggested that the surge in violence could be an attempt to destabilize the newly formed government in Jammu and Kashmir. Abdullah also called for an independent probe into the incidents to uncover underlying factors.

The government and security agencies have reiterated their commitment to ensuring peace and stability in the region. Home Minister Amit Shah is scheduled to review the security grid in Jammu and Kashmir to address the ongoing challenges.
