IIM-Bangalore Student Found Dead on Campus After Birthday Celebration

In a heart-wrenching incident, a 29-year-old student from the Indian Institute of Management Bangalore (IIM-B) was found dead on campus early Sunday morning, just hours after celebrating his birthday with friends. The deceased, identified as Nilay Kailashbhai Patel, was a second-year Post-Graduate Programme (PGP) student from Gujarat who had recently secured a coveted position at a fashion e-commerce firm. Patel was set to embark on his professional journey the following day, leaving the campus community in shock and grief.

Security personnel discovered Patel unconscious on the hostel lawn at approximately 6:30 am and immediately alerted senior staff. Despite the prompt arrival of a medical team and emergency resuscitation efforts, he was declared dead upon reaching a nearby hospital.

Preliminary investigations suggest that Patel may have accidentally fallen from the second floor of the hostel building while returning to his room late at night. Authorities observed minor bruises on his body but found no substantial injuries to suggest foul play. There were no indications of suicide, such as a note or any prior distress expressed by Patel to his friends.

Birthday Celebration

According to his hostelmates, Patel spent the evening celebrating his birthday in the company of close friends. The group had a small gathering, and by all accounts, Patel seemed in good spirits. However, the exact chain of events leading to the tragedy remains unclear.

Police are awaiting the arrival of Patel’s family from Gujarat before filing an official case. Investigators aim to piece together the timeline and circumstances surrounding the incident to provide clarity and closure.

Official Statement from IIM-Bangalore

IIM-Bangalore issued a statement mourning Patel’s untimely demise. The institute described him as a promising individual and a cherished member of the IIM-B community. The statement expressed heartfelt condolences to Patel’s family and friends, offering support during this difficult time.

A Promising Future Cut Short

Patel, who had recently secured a job at a prominent fashion e-commerce firm, was on the brink of a new chapter in his life. His sudden passing has cast a pall over the campus, leaving peers and faculty grappling with the loss of a bright, ambitious individual.

The tragedy serves as a reminder of the fragility of life, even amidst moments of celebration and hope. As Patel’s family prepares to bid farewell, the IIM-B community unites in grief, honoring the memory of a young man whose potential was tragically left unfulfilled.
