Jayant Sinha claims unjust targeting by BJP: Responds to BJP Notice
In a detailed response to a recent show cause notice from the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), former Union Minister and current Lok Sabha member from Hazaribagh, Jharkhand, Jayant Sinha has expressed his dismay and disappointment. Sinha, who did not receive renomination for this year’s general elections, has been accused by the party of not participating in the campaign and allegedly failing to vote in the ongoing Lok Sabha elections.

Show Cause
The BJP issued a show cause notice to Sinha on Monday, questioning his absence from the election campaign and suggesting that his actions might have tarnished the party’s image. The notice demanded an explanation within two days.
In his response, Sinha expressed surprise at receiving the notice, clarifying that he had informed BJP chief JP Nadda in advance about his decision to not engage in the electoral responsibilities. Sinha’s primary reason for this decision was his commitment to addressing the climate crisis, a cause he believes requires his full attention at this time.
Sinha emphasized that his decision was made after thorough consultation with Nadda, from whom he received explicit approval. He reiterated that he had publicly announced his non-participation in the elections. “After consulting with Shri Nadda ji and getting his explicit approval, I made it clear publicly that I was not going to be involved in these elections,” Sinha stated in his letter.
In his letter to BJP state general secretary Aditya Sahu, Sinha criticized the manner in which the notice was issued, describing it as unseemly and demoralizing to dedicated party workers. “Given my contributions to the party and the circumstances, the public issuance of your letter is unseemly. Your approach demoralizes dedicated party workers and undermines the party’s collective efforts,” he asserted.
Sinha also addressed the accusation that he did not exercise his right to vote. He clarified that he had cast his vote through the postal ballot process before leaving India. “Before leaving India, I sent my vote through the postal ballot process. Therefore, it is wrong for you to allege that I did not exercise my responsibility to vote,” Sinha clarified.
