Jharkhand appoints Vandana Dadel as home secretary, Ajoy Kumar Singh to take charge of cabinet secretariat and vigilance department
In a recent development, the Jharkhand government has appointed Vandana Dadel as the new home secretary, with immediate effect. Vandana Dadel, a 1996 batch IAS officer, will hold the additional charge of the home department, in addition to her existing position as the principal secretary of personnel, administrative and official language department, along with an additional charge of the industry department principal secretary.
The position had been lying vacant after Rajiv Arun Ekka, the former home secretary, was shifted to the Panchayati raj department following serious allegations against him by the BJP. The announcement of the appointment was made through a notification issued by the government.
Another 1995 batch IAS officer, Ajoy Kumar Singh, who is currently the principal secretary of the rural works division and also holds the additional charge of the finance department principal secretary, has been given an additional charge of the cabinet secretariat and vigilance department principal secretary.
In addition, the secretary to the chief minister, Vinay Kumar Choubey, who is a 1999 batch IAS officer, will now also have an additional charge of the information and public relation department (IPRD), in addition to his existing positions as the urban development and housing department secretary, excise and prohibition department secretary, and the managing director of JUIDCO and GIADA.
The reshuffle is expected to bring in fresh perspectives and strategies to the various departments, thereby aiding their efficient functioning.
