Jharkhand Tables Third Supplementary Budget Worth Rs 4546 Cr for Fiscal Year 2022-23
On Wednesday, during the third day of the Jharkhand assembly budget session, state finance minister Rameshwar Oraon tabled the third supplementary budget worth Rs 4546.27 crore for the fiscal year 2022-23.
The bulk of the allocation will be given to the Energy Department, Urban Development Department, and the SC ST Minority and Backward Class Welfare Department.
The Energy Department received an allocation of Rs 654.14 crore, followed by the Urban Development Department with Rs 505.74 crore, and the SC ST Minority and Backward Class Welfare Department with Rs 470.00 crore. Other departments also received allocations, including Pension (Rs 400 crore), School Education and Literacy Department (Rs 371.30 crore), Road Construction Department (Rs 365.13 crore), and Health Department (Rs 327.90 crore).
During the Question Hour, State Labour Minister Satyanand Bhokta announced that 120 stands and 1200 cycles will be available for public use in Ranchi under the Public Cycle Sharing System. The government had already provided 60 stands and 600 cycles in the first phase.
The assembly also addressed the issue of the increasing number of stray dogs in the state. BJP MLA Biranchi Narayan from Bokaro raised this issue after a child was mauled to death by dogs. The government stated that stray dogs will be sterilised and given vaccines to control the situation.
Congress MLA from Poreyahat, Pradeep Yadav, questioned the government regarding the hundreds of multi-storeyed houses erasing the existence of ponds and the removal of encroachments in 61 ponds in Ranchi.
Meanwhile, opposition BJP MLAs protested and raised slogans at the main gate of the assembly, demanding employment opportunities for the youth in the state instead of conducting surveys.
