Pathaan continues to dominate box office

Must read

After a month since its release, Shah Rukh Khan’s movie Pathaan continues to dominate box office discussions, with its global earnings crossing Rs 1005 crore. The movie has reportedly earned Rs 1.09 crore on its 29th day in all languages, bringing its total domestic collection to over Rs 518.06 crore.

The Hindi version of the movie has amassed over Rs 502 crore nett, placing it behind Baahubali 2: The Conclusion’s Hindi version record of over Rs 511 crore.

The movie has crossed several milestones, including the Rs 500 crore mark on its 28th day, and is the fifth Indian film to earn over Rs 1000 crore, following Dangal, Baahubali 2, KGF: Chapter 2, and RRR. Pathaan has become the highest-grossing Hindi film in every overseas market and has grossed over $46.5 million (Rs 384 crore) from overseas.

Pathaan’s unprecedented success has provided some relief to Bollywood, which had a disappointing 2022 with several big-budget films bombing at the box office.

The movie’s opening, which earned over Rs 57 crore, was the highest for a Bollywood film. Despite being plagued by controversy, Pathaan weathered the storm, and Kartik Aaryan’s Shehzada’s release had no impact on its earnings.

Shah Rukh Khan’s comeback to starring roles after four years, Pathaan sees him in the lead alongside two other movies lined up for 2023, including Atlee’s Jawan and Rajkumar Hirani’s Dunki
