According to Shashikant Tripathi, Chief Public Relations Officer of North Central Railway, crowd management will be a significant focus for the authorities. Speaking to ANI, Tripathi highlighted the meticulous planning underway to handle the unprecedented influx of visitors.
To ensure seamless crowd movement, North Central Railway has devised a comprehensive strategy prioritizing safety and efficiency. One of the key measures includes implementing unidirectional movement for pilgrims to prevent overcrowding and crisscross traffic. Passengers will first be guided to designated “Yatri-Kendras” before proceeding to their respective platforms, reducing confusion and congestion at railway stations.
Railways to Operate 13,000 Trains
Indian Railways has announced an extensive plan to manage the surge in passengers during the event. Approximately 13,000 trains will operate, including 10,000 regular services and 3,000 special trains. Out of these, 700 long-distance “Mela Special” trains will cater to inter-state travelers, while 1,800 short-distance trains will operate within a 200-300 km radius. A dedicated ring rail service will connect Prayagraj with nearby spiritual hubs such as Chitrakoot, Varanasi, and Ayodhya.
Cultural Highlights
The Kumbh Mela is not only a religious event but also a celebration of Indian culture and heritage. The sprawling festival will feature spiritual discourses, cultural performances, and unique tourism experiences. The event aims to provide a holistic experience to pilgrims, merging faith, tradition, and hospitality.
Safety and Disaster Preparedness
To ensure the safety of visitors, the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF), in collaboration with local agencies, conducted a mock drill on Saturday. The exercise emphasized disaster preparedness and quick response strategies to tackle emergencies during the event.
A Celebration of Faith
Held once every 12 years, the Kumbh Mela represents the spirit of spiritual devotion and cultural unity. As Prayagraj braces for this monumental gathering, authorities are leaving no stone unturned to ensure the event’s success, safety, and grandeur.
