Real Madrid crushes Barcelona at Camp Nou, advancing to the Copa del Rey final with a 4-1 aggregate win

Karim Benzema’s hat-trick led Real Madrid to a resounding 4-0 victory over Barcelona at Camp Nou, securing their place in the Copa del Rey final with a 4-1 aggregate win. Vinicius Junior initiated the onslaught just before halftime, allowing Carlo Ancelotti’s team to stage a dramatic comeback from a one-goal deficit in the semi-final’s first leg.

Barcelona Humiliated on Home Ground

On Wednesday evening, nearly 95,000 fans witnessed a crushing defeat for Barcelona, with Benzema emulating his weekend La Liga hat-trick against Real Valladolid. Los Blancos have trailed their fierce rivals by 12 points in La Liga and suffered a loss to Barca in January’s Spanish Super Cup final, but this victory propels them to their first Copa final since 2014. They will now face Osasuna in the final.

Ancelotti praised his team’s performance, saying, “It was a complete game—when you play a complete game, you win 4-0 like that.” Real Madrid halted a disappointing three-game Clasico losing streak with this victory.

Barca’s Title Hopes Unshaken

Barcelona midfielder Sergi Roberto admitted that conceding Vinicius’ goal just before halftime was a devastating blow. However, he insisted that this loss would not impact their La Liga title aspirations in the season’s final weeks.

Benzema Steals the Show

Injuries sidelined Xavi’s key players Ousmane Dembele, Pedri, Frenkie de Jong, and Andreas Christensen, eventually taking a toll on the team’s performance. In a high-intensity match, Los Blancos took control with Vinicius’s goal in first-half stoppage time, capitalizing on a swift counter-attack.

Benzema then demonstrated his lethal striking skills, first with a precise finish from the edge of the box, and then by converting a penalty after Franck Kessie fouled Vinicius. Finally, he completed his hat-trick with a composed finish following an excellent dribble and pass from Vinicius.

Real Madrid now looks ahead to the Copa del Rey final against Osasuna, who have never won the title, while Madrid boasts 19 Copa del Rey championships.
