CES 2025: Sony-Honda Afeela 1 EV Unveiled with 483 km Range

The much-anticipated Sony-Honda Afeela 1 electric sedan was officially unveiled at CES 2025, showcasing cutting-edge features, minimalist design, and a commendable driving range. The joint venture between Sony Honda Mobility (SHM) aims to make a mark in the EV market with its premium offering. The Afeela 1 is expected to hit the roads by mid-2026, with production set to commence in Ohio.

The Afeela 1 comes with two variants: the Origin trim priced at $89,900 (approximately ₹75.91 lakh) and the Signature trim at $102,900 (approximately ₹86.84 lakh).

Minimalist Aesthetic with Premium Details

The Afeela 1 boasts a sleek, minimalist design that emphasizes modern sophistication. Its clean exterior features no decorative lines, creating an elegant silhouette. The front fascia is highlighted by a full-length light bar and an illuminated Afeela badge, while the rear adopts a similar aesthetic with darkened taillights.

Buyers can choose from three paint options: Calm White, Core Black, and Tidal Gray. The Signature trim further elevates the vehicle’s appeal with 21-inch alloy wheels, a center camera monitoring system, and a rear entertainment system.

Advanced Technology and Driver Assistance

The Afeela 1 incorporates advanced technology, including a complimentary subscription to the Afeela Intelligent Drive system, which provides Level 2+ driver assistance. This system utilizes 40 sensors and an AI-driven voice assistant, the Afeela Personal Agent, to enhance safety and convenience.

Additionally, the sedan offers a subscription service for entertainment and other premium features, catering to tech-savvy consumers.

Impressive Range and Tesla-Compatible Charging

Equipped with a 91 kWh lithium-ion battery pack, the Afeela 1 delivers a range of 483 kilometers on a single charge. The powertrain includes dual 241 hp electric motors mounted on each axle, providing all-wheel drive and smooth performance. An air suspension system ensures a comfortable ride.

The vehicle is equipped with a NACS-style charging port, enabling compatibility with Tesla’s extensive Supercharging Network, further enhancing convenience for EV owners.

A Competitive Entry in the Luxury EV Market

Sony Honda Mobility’s Afeela 1 aims to compete in the premium EV segment, leveraging cutting-edge features, a sleek design, and robust driving range. With production slated to begin in Ohio and a launch targeted for mid-2026, the Afeela 1 is set to challenge established players in the luxury EV market.
