Tech Entrepreneur Prasanna Alleges Harassment in Custody Dispute, Estranged Wife Responds with Countercharges

In an unfolding cross-border custody dispute with serious allegations on both sides, a Chennai-based tech entrepreneur and co-founder of a global HR-tech firm has accused his estranged wife and local police of harassment, even as she levels her own charges of misconduct and past abuse.

The matter gained public attention after the entrepreneur took to social media, claiming he was being targeted in a fabricated criminal case following a personal fallout involving custody of their nine-year-old son. He alleged that his estranged wife, with whom he is locked in a legal battle, had previously taken their child to the United States without his consent, prompting him to initiate international child abduction proceedings.

According to the entrepreneur, a US court subsequently ruled in his favour, leading to a settlement agreement between the two parties. The agreement reportedly included a substantial financial payout and joint custody of the child. However, he now claims that the terms of that agreement were not honoured, especially regarding the handling of the child’s passport—an issue that allegedly led to fresh tensions.

Allegations of Extortion, Police Overreach

The entrepreneur alleges that after his refusal to comply with further demands, a complaint was filed against him accusing him of kidnapping. Fearing a wrongful arrest, he claims to have gone into hiding with his son. He further alleged that the police tracked him without a formal First Information Report (FIR) and that one of his acquaintances was detained and held without being presented before a magistrate.

In his online posts, the entrepreneur claimed that the police demanded Rs 25 lakh to release his friend, and accused them of overreach—including surveillance of his digital activity and visits to multiple locations in search of him.

Police Deny Allegations

A senior police official from Chennai has denied all allegations of wrongdoing and called the claims “baseless,” according to local media reports. There has been no official word on whether an FIR has been filed or what legal process has been initiated in response to the custody dispute and subsequent claims.

Wife’s Counterclaims

The entrepreneur’s estranged wife, a US citizen, has reportedly told local media that she and her son returned to India earlier this month, only to be separated again when her husband allegedly took the child without consent. She has accused him of preventing her from living in peace with their son and claimed he forcibly removed the child from her custody.

In her complaint, she is also reported to have made serious allegations about past behaviour, including claims that he secretly recorded women and faced arrest in Singapore—charges which, according to the entrepreneur, were previously investigated and dismissed. She has further alleged financial misconduct, claiming that marital assets were moved to evade taxes, and that she was pressured into signing documents preventing her from reporting those alleged actions to US authorities.

Legal and Public Fallout

The case is now playing out not only in the courts but also in the public domain, with social media posts, media reports, and sharply worded statements contributing to an increasingly polarized narrative.

As the legal process continues in both domestic and international jurisdictions, the matter highlights the complex and often deeply personal nature of international custody battles, where legal entitlements, emotional strain, and accusations can intersect in volatile ways.

Both parties continue to assert their versions of the truth, even as authorities remain under scrutiny for how the case is being handled.
