Jharkhand Teen Axed to Death by Brothers Over Love Affair, Police Launch Manhunt
In a tragic incident of honor killing, an 18-year-old Dalit girl was brutally murdered by her brothers over her love affair with a tribal youth in Jharkhand’s Chatra district. The heinous crime – Teen Axed to Death – occurred in Sehda village, casting a spotlight on the severe social tensions and prejudices that continue to plague certain regions of India.
The victim, whose identity has been withheld, was allegedly caught by her brothers while she was with her boyfriend, a tribal youth. According to Sadar police station in-charge Bipin Kumar, the brothers, enraged by the relationship, dragged the girl and her boyfriend into a nearby forest where they axed her to death. The incident has sent shockwaves through the local community and sparked a manhunt for the absconding brothers.
The tribal youth, who managed to escape the attack, later returned to find the girl dead. He immediately sought help from a nearby village, narrating the horrific ordeal he had just survived.
The local police, upon receiving the report, swiftly initiated a rescue operation but were unable to apprehend the brothers, who had already fled the scene. The police have also sent the girl’s body for a post-mortem examination to gather further evidence.
As the police continue their search for the brothers, the focus remains on ensuring justice for the young victim and addressing the underlying social issues that led to this tragedy. Community leaders and activists are urging for a collective effort to foster a more inclusive and tolerant society where such incidents become a thing of the past.
